Organization is one of the keys to all work/life balance. But a big part of organization is planning a step or two ahead.
Holidays are a perfect example. Have you thought about them? Decided what worked last year and what you want to change? What life cycle events (birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings) do you have? Need plane tickets and hotels? Advanced planning is key.
I have so many clients that live in constant panic mode, running around last minute for gifts, or reservations. It is totally unnecessary and avoidable.
Another example where we procrastinate is health. Have you made all your doctor’s appointments? Checked your weight? Had a dental check up?
We all know that life has enough stressors we do not need to add to the stress, so be prepared.
I start off every morning with a five minute review: What do I have coming up this week, this month, next month? Next year?
Make a list of what has to be done and do it!
Just a personal update... I am two weeks into being an empty nester. Five kids to zero! It’s like going 95 miles on the highway and stopping. I am looking at this as a chance to grow and re-learn. I am planning on taking a class, going to China for business, planning a 50th birthday party for my husband, and of course there are parents’ weekends as well.
Send me your to-dos and your accomplishments!
