We are seeking an editorial/administrative assistant for an entry level position. Candidates must be a self starters and eager to learn and contribute. The company works at a fast and ever-changing pace so candidates must be able to jump on-board and keep up. Typical tasks include, research of business issues, writing articles, proofreading, updating Internet publication, answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling all incoming and outgoing mail, and other administrative tasks. Social media frequent updates (blogs, twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, etc). This is a very hands-on experience and an opportunity to gain exposure to many functions of the media business.
Job Qualifications
- Degree in Journalism or English
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
- Must be computer savvy (including MS Office, web, social media and HTML a plus)
- Extensive knowledge of social media
- Understanding of the basics of article composition
- Must have experience interviewing and researching article subjects
- Must have excellent verbal and writing skills
- Must have some prior work experience
Assistants also receive a credit in the masthead and bylines in the publication.
