Looking for advice, ideas or just some “yup, been there, done that” kind of reassurance in regard to your own small company? Check out TrueNYC, a website and television show devoted to helping the New York City–based business owner in every facet of her business, created by and for local entrepreneurs.
TrueNYC, (www.truenyc.com), which was founded by David Schnurman, provides videos and other resources for entrepreneurs. The website articles include such provocative topics as Growing Sales on a Budget (no mass mailings; attend only a few, very targeted industry shows); the Five Themes of Success Straight From the Mouths of Entrepreneurs (don’t listen to the naysayers — 99% of successful entrepreneurs had people tell them their idea or company wouldn’t work); A Guide to Corporate Branding for Small Business; and many more.
In addition, TrueNYC’s television show airs biweekly on Monday nights at 8 p.m. through Time Warner and RCN cable. Check your local listings. You can also view the archived television shows on the website. Featured entrepreneurs include Tony Coretto, founder of PNT Marketing Services; Shai Shustik, founder of Manhattan Residential Inc.; our own Robert Levin, founder of The New York Enterprise Report; and David Turk, founder of Indiana Market & Catering.
Lois Levine has more than 20 years experience in magazine publishing, having worked as an editor for publications that include Rolling Stone, Working Woman, Her New York, Where New York (editor in chief) and Bloomberg Personal Finance (managing editor). She can be contacted at llevine@nyreport.com.
