New committee will review fundraising rules for private firms

In an effort to make it easier for small private firms to access capital, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is forming a small-business committee to review fundraising rules. This decision is in response to new capital-raising strategies, as more fast-growing private firms seek secondary markets or raise capital nontraditionally through “crowdfunding” sites like Profounder or Kickstarter.
