How one simple tactic can get you noticed

Last week, I took the day off and went to Southampton for the day with my beautiful wife. It's a nice town dominated with clothing stores and realtors. I pretty much walked the whole town without entering many stores.

Then, I passed Engels & Volkers, a real estate broker, and stopped dead in my tracks. They had put in place a simple, inexpensive gimmick to get pedestrian traffic to stop and notice their window full of "for sale" photos and listings.

On the sidewalk in front of their store front, they had put out two bowls.

Not just any bowls but rather two upscale, metal bowls (this is Southampton after all) filled with water and dog biscuits (See photo below).

Obviously, anyone walking their dog is going to pause to allow their canine to grab a snack and drink. While they're waiting for Fido, they're drawn to look at the listings in the window. While this doesn't necessarily result in a sale, it certainly increases their "window" traffic.

What simple gimmick can you use to get your prospects to stop and look in your window?
