Jay Trien- Senior Partner, Trien Rosenberg, LLP
“Jay Trien is more than a CPA and tax lawyer,” says one of Trien’s many admirers. “He is a personal mentor to his clients and to the tri-state entrepreneurial community.”
Trien has a vast network of business connections and no hesitation about sharing them. Through him, buyers meet sellers, lenders meet borrowers, entrepreneurs meet advisors, and executives find new jobs. His credibility in the business world gives him a clout that works for clients.
There was the time a New Jersey client came to him with a big problem: He owed the bank $1.5 million, the loan was due, and paying it back would put him out of business. On Trien’s recommendation, the bank allowed the client more time to raise money to invest in his business and pay back the loan. The $7 million the client raised at the time turned into a business now worth $100 million.
Trien is equally well known in his field for his work as founder and president of the Venture Association New Jersey (VANJ). VANJ holds monthly lunch meetings, and creates programs that educate and assist entrepreneurial companies in raising capital.
Says Trien, “I like to teach people. At every stage of business development, you need different skill sets. When a client is trying to decide how to counter a negotiation offer, I can give him three different versions of how to do it. There isn’t much I haven’t seen.”
