Just came back from lunch and despite the fact that I tried to go through all of my email on the walk back, my inbox is packed. As I got into my office I saw what I call "lumpy mail" - a box where the address was handwritten.
What do you think I will open first - mail from my inbox or a box on my desk?
If you read my post on "Levin's Law" where I discussed the inverse relationship between the cost of a marketing tool (like email) and its effect, you know that while I think inexpensive marketing (like email) works, its effectiveness goes down as "everyone is doing it". Lumpy mail, because it costs about $3-$4 per package, will never lose its luster because we all want to open the box to see what is inside.
