Drop.io, based out of Brooklyn, allows users to create an online ”drop” where they can place media files, and then control how they are accessed. As a private sharing tool for small business, drop.io can be used to deliver confidential files,
like proprietary documents or licensing agreements, in a secure and protected way.
It’s simpler than traditional FTP sites, and offers a wider range of options. Users can dictate with a password or paywall who has the right to use, see, or open the document. To go a step further, drop.io users can also call a number assigned to the drop to leave a MP3 message to appear with the file. Also, drop.io offers an option to have a text message sent to your phone once your file has been received. There is a free service, and then monthly service charges range from $19 to $49, depending on how many drops you
anticipate making.
