Most small businesses are using digital media to grow their businesses, according to a recent nyreport survey. Seventy-two percent of respondents are currently implementing digital marketing initiatives, from blogging to video web production.
While Twitter may occupy much of the conversation about small business social media tools, in our recent survey, readers said it’s not the most useful. When asked what social media outlet has proven to be the most successful for increasing business, most chose LinkedIn, while Twitter was regarded as the least effective of the options given.
“LinkedIn provides the widest variety of professional options and venues,” says Ciro DiSclafani, partner at CLD Enterprises. “It gives small businesses the opportunity to display a lot of information regarding the organization culture and the purpose of what they do. It’s also easier to reach out to a variety of people, not just like-minded people, but other types of organizations and individuals who can use their services.”
Everything from having a small staff and limited time to opinions that social media content is too personal, rather than business oriented, have discouraged some small business owners from employing digital marketing tools.
