What AnyClip does: AnyClip is an online service that lets users find scenes from nearly any film every made. The company earns revenue through advertising deals and by routing users to buy DVDs and taking a percentage of the sale The New York Observer called AnyClip, “the iTunes of movies.” “We realized that moments from movies matter to people as much as or more than movies themselves,” says Westheimer. “And we knew from personal experience, followed by research, that people really struggled to find exactly what they were looking for on the web.”

How he’s changing the game: So, how is AnyClip different from any other Internet entertainment database? It’s the search technology they developed for the site. “We’re different because of the way we think about data and about searching,” says Westheimer. “We believe people need to have the ability to search through the entire film, not just a few select clips.” While Hollywood may not greet this technology with open arms, Westheimer’s goal is to allow users to search for any scene in any movie ever made anywhere in the world. In addition to being co-founder and EVP of product and technology, he is an advisor to Flybridge Capital Partners and serves as an investor and advisor to several NY-based startups. In the non-profit sector, Westheimer is on the Technology and Social Media Committee of the People for the American Way and he’s the executive director of the influential NY Tech Meetup.

Recent highlights: In only six months, the AnyClip team built a prototype to unveil at TechCrunch 50, where they won the Audience Choice award. Six months later, AnyClip launched to the public with the most comprehensive movie moment index in the world.

What’s next: “In the next several months we’ll be adding thousands of videos to our website, making our site the most comprehensive and accurate movie clip search engine in the world,” says Westheimer.
