Here is a brief recap for those who haven’t been following our unbelievably entertaining blog for these last nine weeks.
My partners ‑ Marla Schultz and Karen Hertz ‑ and I invented a brilliant little product called The Racktrap, a pocket for your bra that holds all your essentials. We designed it to hold your cash, credit cards and drivers license but we have been really surprised what some women tell us they keep in their Racktraps. Chicken feed, change, condoms, cigarettes (shame on you!!), Xanax and other illicit drugs, Metro cards, college IDs etc. We know that we have a brilliant idea. We are still trying to prove it to rest of the world.
In terms of distribution, we have already had one unsuccessful Direct Response TV test. But we know that this product is ready to be embraced by women and their bosoms across the nations so we are now in the process of meeting with other DRTV companies to shoot the commercial that we see in our heads and get that aired on networks that women watch. So keep an eye out because hopefully this summer we will be all over TV and in a Target near you for Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa.
Our valiant sales force is hitting boutiques left and right, doing product demos and convincing buyers that they MUST carry The Racktrap. So far, we’ve had moderate success, but we believe in our product!
Just this week we got selected by MSN.com as one of the 16 wackiest gift items and once again we have been barraged by orders, phone calls and emails. One morning show in Milwaukee talked about it as a direct result.
So my message here is to have faith in yourself and your product. It’s been exactly one year since The Today Show featured The Racktrap and set us upon this course of ups and downs. We are still pounding pavement, taking meetings, pitching media, sending samples. All in the name of spreading The Racktrap love.
And my greatest hope is that one day, you dear reader, will see the Racktrap in a store or on TV and recall the blog that you read about, right here, on the website of NY Enterprise Report and recall being amused by the story of three women who had a great idea and refused to give it up.
And if you bump into Karen, Marla or I somewhere, tell us that you followed our story and chances are we will buy you a drink. Or at least give you a Racktrap!!!
