NYC Business Solutions (nyc.gov/FastTrac) National Seminars Training (nationalseminarstraining.com)New York State Small Business Development Center (nyssbdc.org) NYC Business Solutions offers two FastTrac entrepreneurial programs targeting small business owners, and those who want to be: NewVenture and GrowthVenture. NewVenture is a six-week, 40-hour-long, intensive, boot-camp style workshop that aims to teach those who are wanting to start a new small business steps to take in launching effective business plans. The program includes in-person assistance and feedback from successful entrepreneurs. NewVenture participants must have at least two years of business experience. National Seminars Training offers seminars on topics such as managing off-site and entry-level employees, payroll law, management and leadership skills, business writing, and managing multiple priorities and projects, to name a few. Training seminars are offered in cities throughout the U.S., including New York City, Albany, and Binghamton. Each seminar typically lasts a full day, and prices vary from under $200 to $400. GrowthVenture targets current business owners with at least one year of experience who want to grow their businesses or revise their current business model. GrowthVenture is less intensive than NewVenture, offering eight training sessions over the course of four weeks, for a total of 30 hours. Both FastTrac programs are free of cost and are offered monthly through the Department of Small Business Services, the City of New York and the Kauffman Foundation. Dannible/McKee & Associates, a financial consulting firm, is producing ownership transition seminars later this year and in early 2010. The intensive, one-day seminars cost $595 per person and will take place in New York City. The seminars offer ownership transition guidance in areas such as firm valuation, income and estate tax laws, techniques for transferring ownership, ownership succession, mergers and acquisitions, and will also review actual case studies.
